Due more Malia bar & club owners hiring more Greek staff over the years thus making it more difficulty in finding jobs in Malia, Air-Pro does not offer its services to this particular resort.
However, with many years’ experience in this resort we can offer plenty of tips. So if after reading the information below you need any further advice, just give us a call on 0208 123 7693. We are happy to help!
Looking for a job in Malia? It helps to be gobby and gorgeous or a massive party animal who is super friendly. Jobs tend to be given to attractive female workers.
You should try to get to Malia at the end of April or mid-May to get jobs in the bars. For club work recruitment starts at the end of May as the majority of clubs open in early June!
Please note: If you do go over in April and don’t land a job, you will have to wait for the next wave of recruiting. Be prepared to wait until the end of May when the clubs open and the bars start taking on more staff!
At the beginning of the season (April) you may only earn 5-15 Euros per night but this will rise to 25-35 Euros when the season kicks in in June! Please note: some bar owners offer trials which are not paid and some have been known to NEVER offer employment at the end of the trial!!!!
No, but jobs in Malia will require you to take a medical (around 70 Euros) to work there.
To get a health book (which is the local medical card) you should go to the local Medical Centre where you will have a blood test and an x-ray. You then take the results to Heraklion, along with 5 pictures of yourself (passport size) and your passport to get your Health Book. This will cost you €70 and lasts for 5 years.
This would depend on where you’re working but most bars/clubs in Malia pay workers every two to four weeks and this will be in cash or by cheque.
If it's via cheque don’t worry, all you need to do is take it to a branch of the bank who issued the cheque and they will cash if for you!
If wanting a bar job in Malia, expect to work from around 8:00pm until 1:30am but, you may not get out until later as you will need to help pack away. If you are working in a club your hours will be from around 10:00pm until 4:00am.
In low season you may work 5/6 nights a week. Peak season starts in July and don’t expect any nights off, as they may need you to work every night!
We would recommend Ayia Napa as a great alternative to Malia if you like this type of resort. It's easier to find work and you will have the benefit of two experienced reps guiding you and helping you find work!
Please note that the advice given on this website is based on our previous season’s statistics and the experience of our many reps. As such it should be used as pre-season guidance and is not guaranteed as the popularity of a resort can change from season to season.
